European Coffee Expo steals the show …

I was intrigued to visit the inaugural European Coffee Expo last week.  Having worked in the industry for many years, I have seen various niche exhibitions achieve initial success and then somehow lose their way.  I wonder if the traditional exhibition format is just tired and not geared up to how we do business these days?

However, the coffee sector is buoyant and from the ‘full on’ London Coffee Festival to the more serene Coffee Shop Innovation and Café Culture (also interested to check out the new format of this show later this year) each exhibition is very well supported in terms of exhibitor and visitor numbers.  So the question I was mulling over on the train down to Olympia was is there room in the calendar for another coffee focused event of this scale?

I was very pleasantly surprised.  Olympia West is a large airy space flooded with natural  daylight, creating a very relaxed atmosphere which is very conducive to doing business – a comment I heard from so many of the exhibitors that I spoke to.

The Expo organisers, Quinic Events, put together an illustrious steering panel which I imagine has been quite influential in attracting senior buyers to the event, just the calibre of visitor that exhibitors were hoping for.   With visitor numbers exceeding the 3000 target and over 60% of exhibitors already re-booked for next year, things are looking good for European Coffee Expo.  Well done team Quinic!    Olympia 21-22  May 2019
